About 2021-11-11T14:18:46+00:00

Ian gained a 1st class honours degree from Birmingham City University, having studied Media & Communication and specialising in Media Photography.

Moving to London, he spent several years assisting some of the UK’s most established commercial and editorial photographers. Working on editorial projects for the likes of Vogue, Vanity Fair, British GQ and NME, along with advertising projects for some of the largest commercial businesses in the world, including HSBC and Pepsi, Ian gained valuable photography experience across a range of photographic genres.

On moving back to Birmingham, he moved into his own studio space and is now working on commercial, marketing and PR, portrait and live event assignments. In 2016 he was awarded ‘Best People Image’ at the annual Frame Photography Exhibition.

“I had a great experience in London, working with some talented photographers and their teams on some exciting projects. However, while I was producing the ‘Brum Creatives’ portrait project in 2014, It was then that I realised just how much I missed Birmingham. When I got the opportunity to move back and into my own 2,500 ft studio space, it was a no brainer.”

Previous and current clients include Jaguar Land Rover, Bacardi, Biffa, Global, News UK, Lambe Construction, Gems Education, NHS, Prostate Cancer UK, among a variety of creative agencies and independant business and SME’s.

Ian has also given guest lectures to photography students at Birmingham City University, Wolverhampton University and ‘Arts In The Yard’ a local arts forum for Yardely Distrcit in Birmingham.

Music makes Ian happy. Although often restless, he can watch a full box set in one day. He surrounds himself with bright and bold imagery and loves the visual work of Miles Aldridge, Ryan McGinley, Ellen Von Unwerth, Alex Garrant and Bridget Riley. Now living in Worcestershire, he’s slipping into middle age with ease. He loves his dog Bertie and is a proud advocate of the Brummie accent.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Ian professionally for 2 years now. In that time, he’s not only become a huge added value to our business’ but also a personal friend. Ian has a unique and creative eye for photography and imagery that can only help any business to communicate with its audience better. On top of that he’s a great bloke to know. David Andrews, Director - Emo Ltd and Brandwood Clinic.

I commissioned Ian to work on several photoshoots for GEMS Educations various Eurpoean academies. He was the consummate professional throughout, always calm under the pressure of time, thorough and precise, ensuring the composition and lighting were appropriate in every shot. He was also very good at getting the best from his subject matter and putting the children at ease.

I’m looking forward to working with Ian again other school projects and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for dynamic, innovative, professional and high end images, which will ensure clients stand out, in any market place.

Nikki Dumbleton, Marketing Director - UK and Europe, GEMS Education.

As part of our recent re-brand and upcoming website launch we approached Ian to provide photography that would reflect our forward thinking culture.

Corporate photography can so often feel sterile and we wanted someone innovative to breath life into our corporate image. Ian provided this and more and has produced a series of photographs that we are really proud of. We hope this project is the springboard for a long-term collaboration and would recommend him highly.

Michael Lambe, Director - M Lambe Construction Ltd.

Ian is a fantastic photographer and one that I have used over several years on a variety of shoots ranging from festivals and club nights through to set studio shoots. He knows how to achive the right balance between the client brief and his own creative interpretation – ensuring you get the results you want, as well as the surprise shots you need to keep work fresh.

He’s a hard worker, and willing to go the extra mile – he sees his work as more than just a job which, as a client, ensures you consistently get the best possible results. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending him.

Amy Naughton, Client Services Director - Jaywing

Ian is a talented photographer that never stops pushing himself to deliver outstanding work. Ian’s technical ability behind a camera is superb but what he encourages out of people who are in front of the camera is second to none. He is able to adapt to all situations whilst still maintaining the focus on the original creative brief and generating brilliant results. Ian is a hard working team player and I would highly recommend him and happily work with him again in the future
