I was commissioned by Demolition Environmental Services, based in Redditch, on the outskirts of Birmingham, to complete an industrial photography assignment.

 

DES had recently been given some financial aid by HSBC to co fund their new, company branded excavator.

 

The commission consisted of portraits with the bank manager, director portraits and shots of the new machine in action. However, my favorite shot was of the machine itself, standing alone. I wanted to create a stylised composition, which I lit with one Elinchrom Ranger RX head, picking out individual parts of the machine, one flash at a time, to comp together as one. The finished product is the header image for this post.
